Wisconsin Elopement Locations Close to Home
For elopement photography, Wisconsin has lakeshores, bluffs, islands, and city landmarks to choose from. As a Wisconsin elopement photographer based in Waukesha County, I travel anywhere in the state, including Door County, where I've photographed a sailboat elopement.
Door County pairs Lake Michigan shoreline with state park trails at Peninsula State Park, and a ferry ride takes you to Washington Island, where the lavender fields bloom in summer. Farther north, Madeline Island, the largest of the Apostle Islands, sits a short ferry ride from Bayfield on Lake Superior. If an island ceremony sounds like an absolute dream, the ferry ride turns the journey into a unique adventure.
Closer to my home base, Kettle Moraine State Forest has wooded trails for a hike that feels a little adventure-ish, and Devil's Lake State Park near Baraboo has bluffs with stunning views of the lake. For a city setting, the Wisconsin State Capitol in Madison has its own permit rules for ceremonies inside the building, and one couple chose Milwaukee City Hall for their December elopement photos.

Lake Tahoe, California
Deemed as one of the most scenic locations to elope to, the Lake Tahoe area is special to me and a location I proudly feature in my Bucket List Elopement Collection. This lofty location is over a mile high in mountains that surround picturesque Lake Tahoe itself, making for a scenic environment to remember forever in your marriage!
Bonneville Salt Flats, Utah
Perhaps you are more interested in the wide open spaces of Northwestern Utah. Located just outside of Salt Lake City, the Bonneville Salt Flats are a popular hotspot for those who enjoy American history and the wonders of the world. Have your elopement in an endlessly serene stretch of salt beds that have been long deemed “The Fastest Place on Earth!”

This Nordic gem has grown massively in popularity, and it is hard to miss why. I have been there personally and can assist with locations, places to stay and transportation. From the beautiful Blue Lagoon to the aptly named Diamond Beach, Icelandic elopements are on the rise, and I love being part of capturing their majesty.
